The Neon Wilds (Work in Progress)
Technology becomes myth. Myth becomes a trap.
Oz was never meant to glow like this.
A futuristic reimagining of The Wizard of Oz
When a cataclysmic “hyperstorm” sweeps the Midwest, tech‑savvy teenager Rhea — along with her AI‑drone companion Pix — is hurled into the Neon Wilds, a fractured wilderness where bioluminescent forests, rivers of living light, and predator‑AI roam like beasts of circuitry and code.
Here, survival is never passive. The Iron Wolf, the Razor Hawk, the Viral Serpent, and the Shadow Stag prowl as embodiments of greed, surveillance, misinformation, and humanity’s hubris. At the heart of it all stands the glittering Prism Spire, domain of the enigmatic Luminal Architect — a visionary whose dreams of saving the world gave birth to a new nightmare.
The Neon Wilds is the first step in a trilogy that explores the junction of technology and nature, paranoia and hope, survival and responsibility. It is not a tale of luck but of agency: Rhea must outthink a world that is alive, dangerous, and all too familiar with our own mistakes.
Note: This is a conceptual forerunner to a future full‑length novel. The details and world will expand — and fork — as the larger saga develops.
